Brand Recipe: Nurture Retreats
I asked Sonja Seiler, creator of Toronto's Nurture Retreats to give me three ingredients that defines her brand philosophy. This is what she said.
"The tendency for entrepreneurs to work in isolation and lack support for the personal repercussions of choosing this often-misrepresented lifestyle is high. When you and your dreams are supported by those who not only deeply understand you, but stand for the best in you, everyone benefits."
"Nurture embraces the philosophy of 'everything reflects everything'. The aim is to invite integrity as a consistent foundation from which to start that is reflected through the ingredients used, the attention to detail that is put into all aspects of one's creative life and business, or the transparency with which both the ups and the downs are communicated."
"In an era where a lot of interactions occur through a screen or filter (both actual or social), Nurture aims to bring back the particular kind of magic that happens when people gather over a shared meal or engage in creative activity for its own sake. This type of gathering has the capacity to heal and inspire the relationship both with oneself and others."
At some point or another, there comes inevitable moments of uncomfortable change in life. Sometimes you see it coming, but for the most part, you don't — that's what makes it uncomfortable. The good news is that from this discomfort, incredible shifts happen when you process through it. The work of Sonja Seiler and her Nurture Retreats help along the way. Self care and creativity meet at these weekend retreats. Catered to entrepreneurial women, these retreats offer workshops led by artisans, supportive community discussions from industry professionals, and most importantly, time in collaborative reflection. All of this is catered by with the amazing culinary experience from Seiler herself. Food plays a huge role in these retreats as they are a form of communication in their own right. Every aspect of this experience is curated to envelop you in a nurturing space. All of this was inspired from a genuinely personal experience from Sonja and she remains vulnerable about her process on her blog. I would highly recommend reading it as it's a powerful documentation into the process of creating a retreat, revealing her own moments of change and progress providing an experience for others. Simply put, Sonja gives a damn; And it shows in the care she takes in each of these transformative retreats.
Brand Recipes is a weekly series. Each week, I ask a business to distill their brand philosophy in three words (ingredients).
