Introducing: #FreshTag — a weekly conversation through photography. The hashtag comes first and then you come up with the content.
I took this picture on one of the many walks I take and it wasn't the photo I intended to take. Ever since being in Toronto, it's been a personal goal of mine to get out each day and come home with something to share. I've been keeping a daily journal through photos as a way to document my time settling in a new place. I really liked this green gate and was set to take the shot until this guy walked into the frame. It instantly became something better. The photo took a new meaning and when I posted it on my Instagram, I included the hashtag #streetstroll. It started as a random tag, but it grew into something bigger than that. It told a story that I didn't plan to tell and after a great conversation with my wife, inspired an idea.
Each Monday, I'm providing a hashtag for the week, and you provide the meaning. Share what you think would be a good photo for the tag. The following Sunday, I'll feature some of my favorites that people post.
Let's start with...
I've learned from doing this that it's not all about finding the perfect thing to write or say, it's about letting out the ideas that come up — even the ones that seem the most far-fetched (I think those are the most interesting). They happen at unexpected times and they're all worth sharing. I'm excited to see where you go with this.
Much love, Stirling.
